Well that shitshow was sure fun to watch. And  these are supposed to be functioning adults, with driving licenses?

Description from the recorder “I literally just got my Model 3 set up with the dash cam feature and captured this. The cuts are because Tesla keeps the videos in 1 minute segments. I probably could have got this smoother, but I’m no video editor.

Brief timeline:

0:32 – White SUV cuts off black SUV
0:40 – Black SUV gets pissed, pulls in front of white SUV and comes to a complete stop
0:55 – Having not noticed these previous events, I assume the black SUV is disabled
1:05 – I think the black SUV is pulling over to get out of traffic
1:10 – I start to realize something is amiss. I just let them do their thing.
1:30 – I vacillate between trying to get close enough to capture this for possible police involvement and trying not to get involved myself.
1:42 – White SUV finally overtakes black SUV.
1:55 – Black SUV overtakes white SUV again.
2:03 – Black SUV maybe hits/side swipes the white SUV, who is now off of the side of the highway.
2:33 – Black SUV almost runs the white SUV into the guide rail.
2:44 – White SUV overtakes and both cars pull off onto the shoulder. I had moved into their lane in hopes of getting their license plates. Looks like I did earlier in the video, but I didn’t know that at the time.

A few seconds later I call police.”

Its amazing the mentality and psychology that people have when they start driving. I’ve known perfectly same (seaming) people who absolutely lose their minds on the smallest of perceived slights when driving.

I’ll admit, I’ve had it happen to me as well, but being 44 years old now I think I’ve learned to mellow out.

Why am I not surprised this i s Maryland? Man there are some terrible drivers around Columbia/Odenton. A couple of weeks ago I had some idiot tailgating me hard in a 25 (I was doing 10 over) , so I pulled over, he took off and nearly painted a tree in the next corner with himself and his stupid Kia SUV.

Per comments on the video, the dark  Nissan SUV was driven by someone with a suspended license.

I’d hope that’d be enough for some jail time. Good grief.

The trick is to pull off right before a sharp turn if possible because these imbeciles immediately gun it without looking ahead. That way they overcook the turn and possibly take a nice tumble down the embankment.

That, or pull over knowing a cop is sitting ahead and watch the sweet karma unfold.

Suspend? No, revoke. Let them go through the whole process again fresh, because they clearly weren’t paying attention the first time through. And of course that should be on top whatever they get for failure to maintain lane/reckless driving/etc.

The fact that the observer was a Tesla raises an interesting point, too: how in the world is any automated system supposed to cope with any of this, either as a car in the vicinity, or worse a target of the road rage maniac.

Aside from the stupid move in the beginning where the Rog u e was likely in the Ex plorer’s blindspot, it seemed like they were mostly just trying to GTFO and away from the Rog u e.  What should have been just a bird out the window and laying on the horn was escalated to moronic levels and is 100% the fault of the Rogue.  I’m not sure what else the Explorer was supposed to do there, since the Rogue was clearly not content to let them continue on and at that point, I’d have been looking for ways to make the Rogue wreck themselves into a guardrail or something if it were me.

Oh yeah, this was on a back-ish road cutting to the rink for my son’s game. I pulled over into a park entrance and watched the guy just barely make it through the next corner. Not sure the dude knew how close he came to wrecking, guessing it was probably an inexperienced driver.  Hopefully they get their you know what together before they hurt themselves or someone else.  But I doubt it.

dang... I’d say this was entirely on the Nissan. The Ford had a turn signal on and there was room (albeit tight) to take the lane until the Nissan actively chose to go around him on the left on the shoulder. Nissan gets nose bent out of shape and goes ape sh!t, Ford assumes the worst and runs. This is why people choose to CC...

eesh... and just to be clear I’m not a big fan, (and that headline is just one of the concerns .. .) But I think it’s one of the reason’s why folks do CC , you know? At 2:22, the white Explorer had an opportunity to do a PITT maneuver on the black Rogue . Or at the very least, the Explorer person should have been able to leave the Rogue 4cyl/cvt Rogue in the dust unless the Explorer was one with the 2L Ecoboost.

I t’s clear the person in the white Explorer is the instigator who can’t drive for shit and pissed off the black SUV driver by changing lanes without checking their blind spot at 0.32.

I thought the 3 was still fancier than a lot of cars out there, though. But that is true; the Model 3 is just the baby. Maybe the X has a 4K dashcam that looks like a GoPro in quality.

I had another look just now, thinking “what would I do if that happened to me?” I guess I would have waited longer before trying to go around the Rogue. Seems likely the guy would get out of his car, at which time you could at least get a head start on him. Then call 911. At best, maybe take that right exit just before 2:00 when the Rogue passes. Like, one time in high school some car was chasing me and we came to a stoplight. They raced off at green and I waited for them to pass then braked hard and took a left. Derp.

Yup that’s what I would do. The moment they get out of the car that’s the time I GTFO of there and call 911 on the way if I haven’ t already . I have a dashcam and hopefully I also would have noted down the license plate by then.
